Widespread Impact Across Central Portugal
Civil Protection authorities have registered more than 200 emergency incidents between midnight and 4 PM on Wednesday as Depression Claudia continues to batter the country. The central region, particularly the Coimbra area, has been hardest hit by the severe weather conditions.
No Casualties Reported Despite Widespread Damage
Civil Protection Commander Pedro Araújo confirmed in statements to Antena 1 that there are no victims to report at this time. The majority of the 202 recorded incidents involve fallen trees causing damage and blocking roads throughout affected regions.

Weather Conditions Expected to Worsen
Meteorological forecasts indicate rainfall will intensify in the coming hours, particularly across northern and central Portugal. Due to Depression Claudia's impact, most districts remain under orange weather warnings - the second-highest alert level in Portugal's warning system.
Expert Warning: Situation Will Deteriorate
IPMA meteorologist Patrícia Gomes warned in Antena 1 interviews that conditions are expected to worsen significantly by the end of the day. While the entire mainland territory was under yellow warning by late afternoon, multiple districts will escalate to orange alerts starting at 9 PM as wind strength increases and precipitation intensifies.
