Obra custará seis milhões de euros e será feira em betão medular pré-fabricado
Fifty apartments designated for affordable rent will be constructed in Calhariz de Benfica, Lisbon, representing an investment of approximately six million euros, as announced by the Benfica Parish Council.
The new apartments, featuring T1, T2, and T3 typologies, will be built on a plot of land provided by the Lisbon City Council, situated near the new Calhariz de Benfica University Residence and the CP train station, according to a statement from the council.
The Parish Council notes that it will utilize modular construction with prefabricated concrete, which is expected to accelerate the construction timeline.

This intervention is fully financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and falls under the Affordable Rent regime, aiming to address the growing need for affordable housing in Lisbon.
In the same statement, the Benfica Parish Council highlighted that another building with 18 apartments is already in an advanced construction phase behind Avenida Gomes Pereira, also using factory-produced modules.
According to the council, by 2026, an additional 106 affordable rental homes will be allocated in the Benfica neighborhood.
This year alone, 27 homes have already been delivered, with the goal of reaching 50 by the end of 2025. This marks the largest housing investment ever made by a Parish Council—totaling 69 million euros—with 272 homes applying for the 1st Right Program (IHRU).
