A 37-year-old man has been placed in preventive detention at the Olhão Prison following his arrest for burglaries in luxury residences in the Loulé area of the Faro district. The arrest, carried out by the National Republican Guard (GNR), was part of an ongoing investigation that has lasted about 18 months.
According to GNR sources, the suspect was brought before a judge who ordered his detention as a precautionary measure due to the serious nature of the crimes. The investigation revealed that he was involved in multiple thefts from high-end homes.
During the operation, a search warrant was executed, resulting in the seizure of various items, including jewelry, watches, and €3,650 in cash. The GNR emphasized that the identification and capture of the suspect were crucial steps in addressing the rise of such crimes in the area, particularly in regions known for their luxurious tourist developments like Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, and Vilamoura.
