SheUltra Arrives in Portugal

SheUltra, the world's largest women's trail event, is set to debut in Portugal on November 1, 2025, starting in the Algarve. The 48 km route connects Praia da Falésia to the AP Victoria Sports & Beach Hotel, offering a unique experience where every woman can walk or run at her own pace—free from time limits and pressures.

Origins and Global Impact

Founded in 2024 in Wales by Huw Williams, who was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer, SheUltra was born from a desire to create a safe and inclusive space for women. Since its inception, the event has expanded to the UK and Italy, attracting thousands of participants and raising over €92,000 for female cancer support organizations.

Charitable Contributions in Portugal

In Portugal, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the oncology team in Faro. Already, €3,000 has been donated through SheUltra Legacy via Just Giving links, and two breast examination mannequins will be provided. These mannequins enable nurses to train and demonstrate how to check for signs of cancer, promoting early detection.

Inclusive and Empowering Features

SheUltra stands out for its inclusive nature, meticulously designed for the female experience. There is no time limit, allowing each participant to proceed at her own rhythm. The medal is awarded at the start, honoring those who have passed away and those continuing their fight against cancer. The entire organization and support team are women—from medical staff to aid stations along the route—fostering a safe and welcoming environment.

Local Engagement and Inspiration

A local organizing team is in place to encourage participation in other community events and use SheUltra as a platform for engagement and inspiration.

Founder's Vision

For founder Huw Williams, living with stage 4 cancer, choosing Portugal goes beyond international expansion. It's about bringing cancer conversations into the light, creating a powerful space where women can move together, openly discuss their health, undergo screenings, and take early action.

"SheUltra is not about competition—it's about connection, health, and courage. We want every woman to finish thinking: if I can do this, I can do anything." — Huw Williams
