Historic Endurance with Two Grids at Algarve Classic Festival
The Iberian Historic Endurance race at the Algarve Classic Festival is introducing a major innovation. Due to the high number of participants eager to join the revitalized event at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, the most prestigious classic car competition in Southern Europe has decided to split the starting grid into two separate races.
From October 24 to 26, 2025, the Algarve Classic Festival returns to the calendar of events organized by Race Ready. First held in 2010, this festival takes place in one of Europe's sunniest tourist regions and on one of the world's most attractive circuits, making it a favorite for both drivers and their companions. It is also one of the largest and most significant gatherings of historic racing cars in the Iberian Peninsula, bringing together over 300 automobiles and around 500 drivers from more than 20 countries in each edition.
With the Historic Endurance entry list exceeding 70 registrations, the starting grid for this benchmark competition—featuring Touring and GT cars up to 1976—will be divided into two categories: Historic Endurance 1 and Historic Endurance 2.
The Historic Endurance 1 grid will consist of vehicles from the Gentleman Driver Spirit (GDS), H-1965, and GTP & Sportscar up to 1965 categories. Meanwhile, the Historic Endurance 2 starting grid will be formed by cars from the H-1971 and H-1976 classes.
On October 23, test sessions will be held for competitors who wish to prepare before the main event.
Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, stated: "Given the enormous interest shown by Historic Endurance competitors in the Algarve Classic Festival race, we decided to split the starting grid into two. One exclusive for the H-1971 and H-1976 categories and another for the older ones. We are confident that we will have two grids with spectacular and diverse cars, marked by a strong international presence and united by the camaraderie and passion for motorsport that characterize the spirit of the competition."
Before the Algarve Classic Festival, and this very weekend, the Historic Endurance field will compete in another highlight of the season as part of the Estoril Classics 2025 program.
