A Vibrant Celebration in the Algarve
Mark your calendars for September 28th, as the InDireita Street Fest returns for its fifth edition, coinciding with its first anniversary. This lively event transforms Rua Direita in Portimão into a hub of music, performances, and community spirit, offering something for everyone.
Organized by the Palco das Ondas Invisíveis Studio (P.O.I.S.) association, the festival will close Rua Direita to traffic for the entire day, creating a pedestrian-friendly zone filled with joy and entertainment. Building on the success of previous editions, which have drawn large crowds, this event leverages the mild autumn weather to showcase a rich program.
Musical Highlights and Performances
The main stage will feature performances by artists like Electric Gold, Rude Lion, Abanda, and headliner Xico Barata. Additionally, street musicians will perform at various points along the route, adding to the festive atmosphere.
New Attractions and Activities
As a special feature for this edition, Acro Yoga takes center stage, following the parkour focus in June. Attendees can participate in an open session to try this yoga variation. The day will conclude with spectacular acrobatic and fire shows.
Beyond the stage, the festival includes open traditional shops, a crafts market, a local organic produce market, and a swap market. Local chefs and businesses will provide gastronomic delights with regional flavors, complemented by creative workshops, games, and live art sessions.
Community Impact and Future Prospects
Launched in 2024, the InDireita Street Fest occurs quarterly on the last Sunday of March, June, September, and December. It has become a regular gathering in Portimão's historic center, fostering connections among residents, artists, and local merchants. Supported by the Portimão City Council and the Portimão Parish, this anniversary marks the start of a new growth phase, reinforcing Rua Direita's role as a cultural and community space.
