Emergency Response in Lisbon

PSP and Lisbon Firefighters were activated to respond to an emergency situation at a residential facility for elderly residents on Avenida 5 de Outubro in Lisbon.

Incident Details

A short circuit originating from the visitors' bathroom prompted the partial evacuation of an elderly home this Sunday. The building houses 27 residents, though not all required evacuation from their homes.

According to information obtained by CM, the evacuation was temporary and precautionary in nature. The incident was first reported around 5:30 PM, prompting immediate emergency response.

Emergency Measures

In the initial phase of the response, PSP closed Avenida 5 de Outubro to traffic to assess the situation's scope and clear the way for Lisbon Firefighters who were dispatched to the location.

Firefighters remained on site for approximately half an hour to ventilate the affected area and ensure safety protocols were followed.

The quick response by emergency services helped contain what could have been a more serious situation at the elderly care facility.
