The Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) is set to launch the "AML – Smart Region" project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of public administration across its municipalities. This project, aligned with the National Strategy for the Digital Transformation of Public Administration, will introduce integrated technological solutions to enhance urban management and citizen services.
Key Features of the Project:
- Total initial investment of approximately 1.6 million euros, fully funded by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
- Development of a digital ecosystem featuring an urban management platform and specialized modules for areas like public housing, event management, culture, flood prevention, and smart parking.
- Collaboration with 14 municipalities, including Alcochete, Amadora, Loures, and Sintra, to improve municipal efficiency and foster closer citizen engagement through mobile apps and public access portals.
The project, managed by the Administrative Modernization Agency, is expected to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2026. Its scalable design ensures that all municipalities within the Lisbon Metropolitan Area can join in the future.
