Police Operation in Carnide Leads to Major Drug Bust

A 38-year-old foreign man was arrested by PSP police in Carnide, Lisbon, after being caught with more than six kilograms of hashish. The suspect was apprehended during a routine traffic stop operation when officers discovered him traveling in the trunk of a car.

Details of the Arrest

According to CM sources, the arrest occurred last Friday during a standard police stop. During the inspection, authorities found the man with 95.23 grams of hashish packaged in plastic - enough for approximately 190 individual doses - along with a 20 euro note.

Home Search Reveals Massive Stash

During questioning, the suspect admitted to having additional drugs at his residence and authorized police to search his home. The search uncovered a travel suitcase containing 6,087.48 grams of hashish, equivalent to approximately 12,174 individual doses.

Legal Consequences

The suspect was immediately detained, and all drugs and the suitcase were seized as evidence. Following his arrest, he was presented before a judge and has been placed in preventive detention while the investigation continues.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts by Portuguese authorities to combat drug trafficking in the Lisbon area.
