The Polícia Judiciária (Judicial Police) confirmed on Friday the nationalities of the 16 fatal victims in the Gloria Elevator accident in Lisbon.

Victim Breakdown

Among the deceased, there are five Portuguese citizens, three British, two South Koreans, two Canadians, one Swiss, one Ukrainian, one American, and one French national.

Identification Process

The victims were scientifically identified with the collaboration of the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses (National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences), as stated by the police.

International Confirmation

Earlier this morning, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs had confirmed the death of a Franco-Canadian citizen in the accident.

In a press conference on Thursday, the director of the PJ, Luís Neves, indicated that based on preliminary information, there was a likelihood of victims including a German citizen, two Canadians, a Ukrainian, and an American, with two South Koreans and one Swiss already fully identified through scientific methods.
