The Algarve Wine Session is back on October 17th for its second edition, but this year with a big novelty: the event is no longer aimed only at professionals in the field and is now open to the general public as well.
"We thought it was a great opportunity for wine enthusiasts to have access to this event, obviously not overlooking our professional audience, which is very important to us, but also reaching all people who like wine and want to know more about Algarve wines," explained Sara Silva, president of the Algarve Wine Commission (CVA), to Sul Informação.
The big news was announced this Thursday, July 3rd, at the event's presentation, in a ceremony that took place at the Mercado de Loulé.
As last year, professionals can access the event, which will again take place at the Hilton Vilamoura, for free, while the general public will have to pay for entry. The amount is being studied, but it will include "access to the entire event, namely to the wine tastings from the producers, as well as regional products that we will have available," Sara Silva told our newspaper.
The Algarve Wine Session was born to give stage to Algarve wines and, according to the president of the CVA, events like these are very important because "it is here in the region that we sell 70% of our wines".
Last year, the event had the participation of 33 of the more than 50 producers – and for 2025 the goal is to increase the number.
"The objectives of this event are to promote Algarve wine to professionals and consumers, create a differentiating experience, since we will also have the tasting of regional products, and also give producers the opportunity to discuss strategies," emphasizes Sara.
The Algarve Wine Session starts at 11:00 with a discussion panel on the theme "Sustainability and Regeneration". The party continues between 14:00 and 20:00, with free tasting of wines and regional products and two workshops with limited entry ("Tasting of Negra Mole Wines" and "From the coast to the mountains, passing through the Barrocal").
Before ending, there will be a raffle for a voucher for a wine experience in the Algarve.
This year, in addition to the partnership with Turismo do Algarve and Hilton Vilamoura, the Algarve Wine Session also has the support of the Municipality of Loulé.
