Fire in Sabrosa Brought Under Control
The wildfire in Sabrosa, Vila Real, has been successfully dominated after it broke out on Sunday afternoon. This marks the third time this summer that flames have threatened the area. The fire was declared under control at 12:30 AM, joining other recent blazes in Pedrógão Grande and Arganil, which are also in the resolution phase.
High Fire Danger Across Multiple Regions
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), over 40 municipalities in the districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, and Santarém are at maximum fire risk today. Despite this elevated danger, as of 6:30 AM, there were no significant active fires reported nationwide by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection.
Ongoing State of Alert and Vigilance
A level four special state of readiness remains in effect for the entire country until Monday. Authorities will assess whether to maintain this maximum alert level or reduce it in some areas, as stated by the national commander. Ground surveillance continues to be a priority to prevent new outbreaks.
