British Arrow Group Acquires Monte Rei Golf & Country Club
The Arrow Group, based in the UK, has officially notified the Competition Authority (AdC) about its acquisition of exclusive control over the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club located in Vila Nova de Cacela, Algarve, through its ACO II fund.
This transaction will undergo scrutiny by the competition regulator and encompasses various companies and assets associated with Monte Rei Golf & Country Club. Specifically, it includes seven companies operating in the tourism sector under the same brand, which manage a range of tourism ventures and a golf course in the Algarve region.
Founded in 2005 in the UK, Arrow Global is regulated across seven European countries, employing over 4,000 workers and managing more than €110 billion in assets. In Portugal, the group operates through Whitestar, Norfin, Restart Capital, and Details, which will oversee this investment.
Details – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure is the platform responsible for managing Arrow Global's activities in hospitality, sports, and leisure in Portugal. Notably, the group took over the management of Aroeira on the Costa da Caparica at the end of 2023, following a deal with Novobanco worth over €15 million for the land. In addition to PGA Aroeira Lisbon, Details manages seven other golf courses in Portugal, including those in Vilamoura, Lagos (Palmares), and Vale Pisão in Santo Tirso.
The AdC summarizes Arrow's activities in Portugal as encompassing debt management, real estate investments, and the operation of tourist accommodations and golf courses in the Algarve and Madeira regions, as well as the production and marketing of ceramic flooring and coverings. The authority has requested any observations regarding this concentration operation within 10 working days.
