Morabeza Lx Festival Coming to Lisbon
The Morabeza Lx Festival is set to take over the Museum of Lisbon on May 3rd, from 11 AM to 9 PM, bringing the vibrant culture of Cabo Verde to the heart of the city. This festival promises to be a celebration of food, music, and family.
In 2008, the hip hop scene saw the emergence of artists like Rainner Brito from the Bairro dos Navegadores and Nuno Varela from Chelas. Now, 17 years later, they are coming together to honor their roots with this festival. As Varela explained, **"Morabeza is more than just a word; it embodies a sentiment of hospitality and love, reflective of the Cabo Verdean spirit."
The festival aims to break down invisible barriers in communities, showcasing what young people from these neighborhoods can achieve. Visitors can expect to enjoy traditional Cabo Verdean dishes, including cachupas, while watching films about Cabo Verde or participating in kizomba workshops. Concerts will feature prominent artists, including Tito Paris, with more names to be announced.
Supporting this cultural event are the Lisbon City Council, the Embassy of Cabo Verde in Portugal, and the AIMA (Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum). Join us in celebrating this unique cultural exchange!
