Incident Overview
A fire erupted at the Cabana do Pescador restaurant located on the Costa da Caparica, in the municipality of Almada, Setúbal district.
Firefighting Efforts
According to information provided to Lusa by the Civil Protection source, over 30 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. During the peak of the firefighting efforts, 48 firefighters were present, supported by 17 vehicles. The fire was brought under control by 0:10 AM, and the team transitioned to the mop-up phase.
Timeline of Events
The alert was raised at 10:25 PM. When the firefighters arrived, the restaurant was already engulfed in flames, as stated by Maximino Viegas, commander of the Cacilhas Volunteer Firefighters, in an interview with Correio da Manhã.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire remains unknown. When asked if the severe thunderstorm in the area could be a contributing factor, Viegas indicated that this is a matter for the authorities conducting the investigation.
Casualties
A source from the Sub-regional Command of the Setúbal Peninsula reported that there were no recorded injuries.
