Protest in Lisbon

Hundreds of firefighters gathered in Lisbon near the Government headquarters on Monday, expressing their demands for respect and shouting accusations of "fraud". The atmosphere was charged as they launched torches and firecrackers during the demonstration.

Career Valuation Issues

The protest centers around the valuation of their careers, which the firefighters claim has not been reviewed in over 20 years. They are also demanding increases in risk allowances and other subsidies.

During the event, demonstrators displayed banners with messages like "since you have no sense, have respect" and shouted slogans such as "fraud" and "shame". The sound of sirens was heard as negotiations with union representatives were ongoing.

Statements from Protest Leaders

Ricardo Ribeiro from the Lisbon Fire Regiment stated, "We are here fighting for our careers, the last evaluation of which was in 2002. We are reaching a point of no return. We are not asking for anything unreasonable, just what is fair."

Ongoing Negotiations

A meeting with government representatives, including the Secretary of State for Public Administration and the Secretary of State Local, involved six unions, with negotiations set to resume on December 3rd. The protesters disbanded around noon.
