Montenegro

The leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Luís Montenegro, has strongly criticized the opposition parties' remarks regarding the recent changes to the IRS withholding tables, labeling them as baseless political attacks. He emphasized that the government has effectively reduced the tax burden for citizens.

Montenegro stated, "Any critique regarding this direction is merely a political game from those who throw unfounded accusations into the air. Frankly, it is perhaps a recognition of the government's successful trajectory." He made these comments to journalists following a meeting with the Agricultural Association of São Miguel Island in the Azores, as part of his pre-campaign activities for the upcoming early legislative elections scheduled for May 18.
