Heavy rainfall is set to impact 15 districts across mainland Portugal until Saturday, with seven districts under an orange warning due to persistent and sometimes intense precipitation, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
Districts Under Orange Warning
- Aveiro, Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, and Leiria are under an orange alert until Saturday.
- Bragança and Vila Real have been under orange warning since Friday afternoon, continuing until 06:00 on Saturday, then downgrading to yellow until 09:00.
- Aveiro, Coimbra, Viseu, and Leiria remain under orange warning until 09:00 on Saturday, shifting to yellow from 09:00 to 12:00.
- Guarda is under orange warning until 12:00 on Saturday, changing to yellow until 15:00.
Districts Under Yellow Warning
- Braga, Viana do Castelo, Porto, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém, Lisbon, and Setúbal are under yellow alert for heavy rain.
- Braga and Viana do Castelo are under yellow warning until 21:00 on Friday, then orange until 03:00, and back to yellow until 06:00.
- Porto is under yellow warning until 21:00 on Friday, then orange until 06:00, and yellow again until 09:00 on Saturday.
- Castelo Branco is under yellow warning until 06:00 on Saturday, then orange until 12:00, and yellow from 12:00 to 15:00.
- Lisbon and Santarém are under yellow warning until 06:00 on Saturday, then orange until 12:00, with Lisbon returning to yellow from 12:00 to 15:00.
- Portalegre has a yellow warning until 21:00 on Friday and another from 06:00 to 18:00 on Saturday for persistent and sometimes heavy rain, especially in the northern part.
- Setúbal is under yellow warning until 21:00 on Friday and again from 06:00 to 15:00 on Saturday for heavy rain, particularly in the north.
Additional Maritime Warnings
- Porto, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Aveiro, Lisbon, Coimbra, and Leiria are under yellow warning until 21:00 on Friday due to rough seas, with waves reaching up to four meters in significant height.
