A Major Event in Algarve

More than 100 American travel operators and agents are gathered in Algarve until this Sunday for the "Visit Portugal Travel Trade Market Place". The event aims to foster business contacts with Portuguese companies, as explained by André Gomes, president of the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA).

Strengthening Business Relationships

The main goal of the participants is to enhance business opportunities and strengthen commercial ties with specialized agents from the United States and Canada. Around 120 Algarve companies and others from across Portugal are present to meet directly with buyers from these countries, including tour operators and specialized travel agents.

Significant Growth in the US Market

According to data from Algarve Tourism, the US market has grown approximately 200% in the region from 2017 to 2023, making it the third most popular destination in Portugal with a 10% share of overnight stays.

In contrast, the Canadian market ranks Algarve as the second most sought-after destination in Portugal, holding about a 25% share.
