The first day of counting votes from Portuguese emigrants outside Europe has concluded, with the AD (Democratic Alliance) taking an early lead.
- AD secured over 7,400 votes across all 40 polling stations, a significant start in their campaign. In the last elections, they managed to elect one deputy with 22,636 votes.
- Chega came in second, gathering nearly 6,500 votes. This performance is notable as they also elected one deputy in 2024 with around 18,000 votes.
- The Socialist Party (PS) is currently in third place. Last year, they failed to elect any deputies from this electoral circle, receiving just over 14,400 votes.
This initial count provides a fascinating insight into the political leanings of Portuguese citizens living abroad, a demographic that has increasingly influenced Portugal's legislative landscape.
