The agri-food sector in the Algarve is gaining new momentum through the AGROPYME AVANZA AAA project, a cross-border initiative that brings together Alentejo, Algarve, and Andalusia to enhance the competitiveness of SMEs in the Euroregion. This project focuses on three key strategic areas: innovation, digitalization, and sustainability.
In the innovation aspect, the project supports companies in defining solutions that boost profitability and growth. For digitalization, it contributes to the digital transition of SMEs. In sustainability, it promotes the adoption of more responsible business models, emphasizing the rational use of resources and reducing environmental impact.
Results so far confirm the positive impact of the initiative: 20 agri-food companies have benefited from capacity-building actions in key areas; 20 companies have received specialized consultancy for developing competitiveness diagnostics and plans; and 10 companies are currently implementing their competitiveness plans.
AGROPYME AVANZA AAA is a cross-border project co-financed by the Interreg Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2021-2027. It is developed in partnership by NERA - Business Association of the Algarve Region, the University of Algarve, ADRAL - Regional Development Agency of Alentejo, NERE - Business Nucleus of the Évora Region, Fundación Andanatura for Sustainable Socioeconomic Development, and Fundación Pública Andaluza Andalucía Emprende.
