The Algarve poet Nero is set to make his third appearance at the Lisbon Book Fair, this year celebrating its 95th edition. His new book, "Akbar — Lunário Poético duma Alma ainda Árabe", will be launched on June 14th at 5 PM in pavilions C06 and C07 of Europress, complete with a book signing session.
This year's fair, running from June 4th to 22nd in the Eduardo VII Park gardens, is one of the largest ever, organized by the Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers (APEL) under the high patronage of the Lisbon City Council.
Nero, a native of Silves and a teacher of Portuguese and Portuguese Literature, has been making waves in the regional and national literary scene. Following his previous works, "Oceano – O Reino das Águas" (2021) and "Telúria" (2023), "Akbar" delves into the spiritual almanac genre, exploring the origins and expansion of Islamic faith through a symbolic and mystical lens.
The book has already been presented in Silves, Albufeira, and Tavira, sparking interviews on various regional radio stations. It's described as a significant contribution to 21st-century literature, with critics praising Nero's embodiment of the Moorish essence of Gharb al-Andalus.
"Akbar" is available in physical and online bookstores and will also be featured at the Lisbon Book Fair.
