Lisbon's PSP has identified 29 individuals from various nationalities suspected of involvement in illegal immigration assistance in the Penha de França parish. The operation unfolded after a noise complaint led police to a commercial establishment early on May 28.
Upon entry, officers discovered multiple bunk beds housing 29 foreign nationals, alongside travel agency logos. The site, with empty beds suggesting capacity for over 50, was marred by poor hygiene and unsanitary conditions, including spoiled food and cockroach infestations.
Six individuals lacked proof of legal status in Portugal, prompting their transport to the station for further inquiries with the Border Control and Foreigners Unit. Two, without ongoing legalization processes but holding passports, were notified to voluntarily leave the country.
