A gray morning greeted residents of the Algarve today, April 29, but there are reasons to smile as the region returns to normalcy following yesterday's significant power outage. With traffic lights operational, schools and supermarkets open, and hospitals functioning without generators, electricity has been restored across the country, allowing Portugal to regain some semblance of normal life.
In the Algarve, the power gradually returned starting last night: in Faro, electricity was restored around 8:45 PM, while Loulé saw its restoration closer to 9:30 PM. Portimão was one of the last locations to receive power.
While the Faro Airport and hospitals managed to maintain some level of normalcy with generators, yesterday was marked by long lines outside supermarkets and gas stations.

Traffic also felt the impact of the outage, with traffic lights at Patacão (EN125) being non-operational. However, today the situation has improved, with traffic returning to normal. According to our sources, most schools are operational, with only a few exceptions.
