José Mascarenhas, accused by the Public Prosecutor's Office of homicide, robbery, kidnapping, coercion, and desecration of Sandra Andrade's corpse, is also suspected in two other murders.

The Gruesome Crime

Mascarenhas, known to Sandra, allegedly asked her for a ride to his parents' house in Quarteira. Once inside, he forced her to reveal her bank card codes before strangling her to death. He then hid her body in a suitcase and transported it in her own car to a wasteland in Almancil.

Financial Exploitation

In the following days, Mascarenhas used Sandra's cards to withdraw money from ATMs, exploiting his victim even after her death.

Investigation and Previous Crimes

The crimes were investigated by the Southern Directorate of the Judicial Police, with the case coordinated by the Faro District Investigation and Penal Action Department. Mascarenhas had previously been convicted for the death of Tatiana Mestre in 2018 but was released by the Court of Appeal. Recently, he was accused of the murder of Josielly Rodrigues, a Brazilian woman involved in prostitution, whose burned body was found near IC1 in São Marcos da Serra in 2022.

Current Status

Mascarenhas is currently imprisoned due to a drug trafficking case.
