Blues a Sul – The Algarve Blues Association is set to kick off 2025 with a free concert featuring the Little Orange Trio on January 11th at 21:30. The event will take place at the Auditorium of the Algarve Regional Directorate of the IPDJ in Faro. This performance not only promises a night of great music but also commemorates the 20th anniversary of the radio program BLUESmente Falando.
A Celebration of Blues
This radio program has been pivotal in promoting the Blues genre in Portugal, which had seen a decline due to limited radio coverage. Initially a one-hour weekly show, the program has expanded to four hours each week due to its growing popularity among listeners.
From Humble Beginnings to National Recognition
Launched at midnight on January 00, 00, by Hernâni Nascimento and João Godinho, known as the “Godfathers” of Blues in Portugal, BLUESmente Falando has gained recognition as the only radio program in the country dedicated to this genre. Its reach has extended beyond national borders, thanks to its online broadcasts.
Awards and Acknowledgments
The program has also earned nominations for several awards, including the “Blues Behind The Scenes – Media” from the European Blues Union, celebrating its contribution to the promotion and growth of Blues music across Europe.
