A Day to Remember

This Friday marks 51 years since the Carnation Revolution. Various public figures took to social media, particularly Instagram, to celebrate April 25th.

Pedro Ribeiro, a radio host from Comercial, expressed:

"What makes April 25th beautiful is its purity. Absolute independence. It has no party or power agenda. It only breathes freedom and hope. What we celebrate on this day is not the attempt to replace one dictatorship with another."

He continued, emphasizing that April 25th is a call for freedom and the right for everyone to live in democracy. He quoted Sophia, stating it is a clean day for all.

Voices of the Celebration

João Baião noted:

"Long live Freedom!"
Ana Garcia Martins also commemorated the date.

Marco Horácio reflected on the fragility of what was achieved 51 years ago, stating:

"Everything that was conquered seems increasingly fragile today. The freedom of expression, artistic freedom, and even personal freedom feel increasingly strangled by the hatred on social media."

He expressed concerns about the future for his children, advocating for more action and empathy in the fight for freedom.

The Essence of Freedom

Vanessa Oliveira remarked on the importance of celebrating those who fought for our current freedoms.
Catarina Raminhos shared the dictionary definition of freedom, while Iva Domingues shared a poignant poem.
Marcontonio del Carlo spoke about his daughter's joy in a free and democratic country, hoping it remains so for the future.

In Uruguay, Fernanda Serrano celebrated the date, stating:

"Freedom looks good on me! It looks good on all of us! Today, tomorrow, and always, let’s celebrate freedom!"

Dalila Carmo emphasized:

"April 25th ALWAYS!"
