This Wednesday, the Portuguese Parliament is set to vote on the lifting of immunity for former Chega deputy Miguel Arruda, who is now an independent deputy. The Transparency and Statute of Deputies Committee has revealed that Arruda did not submit any statement to the committee regarding the accusations against him.
The committee's opinion allows Miguel Arruda to be heard as a suspect in a case involving eight counts of qualified theft. The case revolves around the controversial alleged theft of bags at the airport.
The documents sent by the Central Criminal Investigation Court to Parliament indicate that there are strong indications of the commission of the crimes.
In a reaction to the news, Arruda expressed his shock, stating that he has not yet been formally heard but will share everything he has to say when he is. He also indicated that he is unaware of the specific number of crimes he is accused of and is willing to answer any questions and provide necessary clarifications.
