How can theater be rethought in the light of algorithms? How can space be created for the human within digital technological structures? These are the two questions Jorge Jácome pondered upon receiving an invitation from Teatro Nacional D. Maria II and its innovation partner, the technology consulting firm NTT DATA, to create a new piece. The film, Cosmic Sans, is now showing from July 9 to 27 in the lounge of Teatro Variedades, with free admission.

Jácome describes Cosmic Sans as "a dialogue, or perhaps a tension, between two worlds: one, linked to the digital, thinking about productivity, innovation, and the future; the other, rooted in the ancestral memory of gesture, the present body, the spoken word." The title plays on words with one of the fonts launched by Microsoft and also includes "the idea of being 'without cosmos' – displaced, without orientation, adrift."
