A New Perspective on Life
Gina Morello, one of the few women to have visited every country in the world, shares her transformative journey that led her to find a new home in Portugal. Her 20-year adventure began not as a quest for stamps but from a love for scuba diving, evolving into a deep appreciation for global cultures.

Why She Started Traveling
Morello's initial motivation was purely for diving, but she soon became fascinated by cultural diversity. Early memories include the sensory overload in India and the bustling streets of Vietnam, which opened her eyes to the world's richness.
Learning Open-Mindedness
As her travels turned into a profession in airline management and consulting, she spent time in exotic locales like Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. These experiences taught her to appreciate different customs, such as the business etiquette in Pakistan where handshakes are not always offered, fostering a greater sense of open-mindedness.
Valuing Experiences Over Possessions
Travel taught Morello to pack light and prioritize experiences. She witnessed joy in the world's poorest countries, from communal meals in Yemen to celebrations on remote islands, reinforcing that true richness comes from moments, not material wealth.
Finding Home in Portugal
After the pandemic left her jobless and her marriage ended, Morello saw an opportunity for a fresh start. Dissatisfied with life in the US, she remembered the advice to "not put a roof on your dreams" and sought a place that aligned with her values: work-life balance, safety, and wellness.

She considered countries like Georgia and Turkey but chose Portugal for its residency ease, mild climate, and lifestyle. Lisbon's hospitality, walkability, and focus on fresh foods made it the perfect fit. After visiting every nation, she realized home is where you feel a sense of belonging, and she found that in Portugal.
