GNR Confirms Capture of Fugitive Algerian in Algarve

On November 13, 2024, the GNR (National Republican Guard) confirmed that a man arrested this morning in Estômbar, Lagoa, Algarve, is indeed the Algerian fugitive who escaped from a police transport van in Lisbon. What’s even more startling is that he was still wearing his handcuffs at the time of his capture.

The incident has raised significant concerns regarding police protocols and the circumstances surrounding the escape. Authorities are now investigating how such a breach could occur and what measures will be implemented to prevent future incidents.
