The milestone is being commemorated today, Saturday, with a national gathering of the Fiat 600 Group Portugal in Lisbon. The event, which started at 10 AM at the Maritime Museum in Belém, is bringing together enthusiasts, collectors, and admirers of this iconic model in a program that combines socializing, automotive culture, and celebration of Italian heritage.
The Fiat 600 Group Portugal is celebrating the 70 years of the iconic Fiat 600, a symbol of a golden era in the automotive industry. The event is taking place in front of the Maritime Museum in Belém, Lisbon.
Formed spontaneously and completely informally, the Fiat 600 Group Portugal brings together owners and enthusiasts of this legendary model, with members from across the country. The community's sole objective is to promote the model, support its owners, and preserve the historical memory of this car that marked generations.
Launched in 1955, the Fiat 600 was a milestone of innovation and accessibility, quickly becoming one of the most popular cars in Europe. In Portugal, the model gained an even more special status: from 1964, it was produced in Vendas Novas by SOMAVE, totaling 9,576 units until 1971.
Over the past five years, the group has promoted various gatherings across the country, some with media coverage, bringing together restored examples, stories, and memories of those who lived and continue to live the passion for the Fiat 600.
The Lisbon meeting is another moment of celebration, sharing, and nostalgia, where national and international visitors can relive the spirit of the 1960s and 1970s and admire up close the models that helped write one of the most beautiful pages in Portuguese automotive history.
The Fiat 600 Group Portugal was formed spontaneously and completely informally by a group of owners and enthusiasts of the mythical Fiat 600, currently counting various members from north to south of the country.
