Shooting Incident During Domestic Dispute
A three-year-old boy was shot by his own father on Saturday afternoon in Póvoa de Lanhoso, during a heated argument between the parents. The child was hit in the legs and was still under observation in the pediatric emergency department of Hospital de Braga early Sunday morning.
Violence Erupts in Garfe
The domestic violence incident began in the parish of Garfe, where the family resides, around 6:00 PM. The boy's father used a firearm to threaten the child's mother and fired several shots. One of the bullets struck the three-year-old boy, horrifying the mother who witnessed the event. Following the shooting, the man fled the scene.
Mother's Desperate Dash for Help
The mother immediately grabbed her injured son and drove to the GNR post in Póvoa de Lanhoso to seek assistance. Volunteer firefighters from the town responded to the GNR station and transported both the child and his mother to Hospital de Braga for emergency medical care.
Police Manhunt Underway
The GNR is actively conducting searches to locate the shooter, who remains at large. The case has been reported to the Judicial Police in Braga for further investigation.
