Lisbon City Council Grants Land and Project to Employee-led Cooperative with 50% Discount

The Lisbon City Council has decided to award its first project under the Cooperativas 1.ª Habitação program to a cooperative led by one of its own employees. Sílvia Santos, a senior technician in the municipality's brand and communication department since late 2023, will oversee the construction of a new building in Lumiar, benefiting from a significant 50% discount on the project.

In addition to her role in the cooperative, Santos has ties to a local theater group that will receive a social counterpart as part of this initiative. This project marks a significant step in promoting cooperative housing and community involvement in Lisbon.
