Lisbon Metro Workers to Hold Partial Strikes
Workers at the Lisbon Metro have scheduled new partial strikes for September 9 and 11, citing a lack of responses to their demands. This announcement was made by a union source on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Strike Details and Timings
The strike will affect various shifts:
- Operational workers: 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM
- Workshop sector workers: 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Fixed and administrative sector workers: 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Night and track service workers: 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM
These timings were disclosed in a statement by the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans), which represents the workers.
Union's Stance and Demands
Fectrans has expressed full readiness to engage in negotiations on behalf of the workers. The union emphasized that unless the administration or oversight body of the Lisbon Metro initiates dialogue with concrete proposals before the strike begins, the unions will proceed with the planned industrial action, potentially escalating their efforts.
In their statement, Fectrans highlighted, "This is a time for unity, and as in the past, it will be the determination of the workers that leads to the success of this just fight for all."
