Major Drug Bust in Lisbon
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the PSP (Public Security Police) has seized several tons of hashish, numerous firearms, and detained multiple suspects in an ongoing operation that began last Friday, primarily focused in the Seixal area of Greater Lisbon.
Operation Details
The operation, led by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP through its Criminal Investigation Division, involved reinforcements from various PSP units. It is expected to conclude by the end of today. Authorities have highlighted the seizure of hundreds of thousands of euros in cash, speedboats and their engines, and vehicles used in the illicit activities.
Key Findings and Arrests
According to reports from CNN Portugal, the operation resulted in seven arrests, the confiscation of nearly six tons of drugs, and approximately half a million euros. Police caught the suspects unloading hashish from speedboats into a warehouse in Seixal.
Judicial Proceedings
The detainees are scheduled for their first judicial interrogation on Monday, where coercive measures will be considered. Once police procedures are complete and judicial measures are applied, the PSP plans to hold a press conference to present the full results of the operation to the media.
