An Unmissable Dining Opportunity
Get ready to experience that restaurant you've been putting off due to high prices. The Lisbon Insiders Restaurant Week is happening over ten days, with numerous establishments offering special menus at €25 or €35.
Event Details and Dates
This initiative by Lisbon Insiders will run from October 24 to November 2. "Lisbon has Fashion Week and Design Week, but it lacked a Restaurant Week. I thought it was time to create a city-wide event to showcase Lisbon's culinary scene," explains Stéphanie Pons, founder of Lisbon Insiders.
Celebrating Lisbon's Culinary Diversity
"Lisbon has truly become a gastronomic destination. There are excellent restaurants. We're aiming to represent all types of cuisine, not just fine dining, not only new or Portuguese spots," she notes. Restaurants can choose to offer the special €25 menu, the €35 menu, or both, with or without drinks included, for lunch, dinner, or both.
Exclusive Menus for the Event
These menus are exclusive to Restaurant Week and have been specially designed for the occasion. For this first official edition, 64 restaurants in the capital have joined so far, including 100 Maneiras, Pap'Açorda, Estrela da Bica, Província, and Memória.
Democratizing Dining Out
"The idea is to democratize dining out by making gastronomy accessible for ten days, encouraging people to discover restaurants they don't know or think are too expensive," Stéphanie Pons tells MAGG. An interactive map showing the locations of all participating spots will be available starting October 14.
Attracting Locals and Visitors Alike
By offering more affordable menus across the city, they aim to attract not only locals but also tourists and expatriates, while highlighting the diversity and creativity of Lisbon's food scene. This unique event is seen by the founder as "a culinary celebration to unite chefs, customers, and all foodies."
The Origins of Lisbon Insiders
The story of Lisbon Insiders began four years ago as a hobby during the COVID-19 pandemic. "It started as an attempt to help restaurants during that difficult phase," shares Stéphanie Pons, who, after eight months, began working on the project full-time.
Half French and half New Zealander, she has worked in the hospitality industry "for many years." Today, Lisbon Insiders is already a reference in the city's gastronomy and includes initiatives like print editions, a weekly newsletter, and an annual awards ceremony.
