TV Host's Unusual Robbery Experience in Lisbon
Mafalda Castro experienced moments of panic when she became the victim of a robbery in Lisbon. The television presenter shared all the details about the incident, which was both frightening and somewhat comical, on the podcast 'Bate Pé' that she hosts with her partner, Rui Simões.
The Unfolding of Events
Everything happened when 31-year-old Mafalda Castro was searching for her boyfriend's car and was on the phone with him to figure out where it was parked. "While I was on the phone with Rui, I was stressed, I had the key fob in my hand and was pressing it because some cars beep if you click twice. I activated the car, unlocked it, opened the trunk, pressed all the buttons in my anxiety..." she began recounting.
An Unintentional Invitation
"I basically invited the robber... Look at his luck, he was passing by the car and saw it opening for him. Suddenly, I'm on the phone with Rui, I hang up and shout: 'Rui, you're being robbed!' Because there was a man sitting in the passenger seat of his car and I felt really invaded, I was full of fear" continued Mafalda Castro, who reacted in panic: "I told him: 'Get out of there. That car is mine!' He was aware that the car wasn't his [laughs]. It was very scary: there are so many stories about cars and traffic and I was afraid he would turn against me."
The Polite Robber
The presenter said the intruder touched some of her personal belongings but didn't take anything when he left the vehicle. "He was the nicest robber ever: he apologized to me and left. He didn't take anything" she concluded.
The Unexpected Location
Rui Simões couldn't resist adding that everything happened in an upscale and well-monitored area of Lisbon: "We were robbed in Restelo, which I think is one of the last places you'd expect this to happen."
