On Wednesday, Manuel António Correia made public a new request addressed to the regional bodies of PSD-Madeira regarding the ongoing analysis of a prior petition submitted by 540 party members for an Extraordinary Regional Congress.

The former party leader emphasized that the previous request, submitted on December 23, 2024, has remained unanswered for nearly a month. He expressed concerns about the impartiality and transparency of the process, especially since the President of the Jurisdiction Council, Rui Abreu, also serves as the head of the Regional Government's Presidency Office.

Concerns About Internal Party Elections

Correia pointed out that the President of the Regional Government and PSD-M, Miguel Albuquerque, has openly stated his opposition to internal elections. This raises serious questions about the Council's neutrality in their deliberations, potentially affecting the validity of their decisions.

In light of this situation, Correia demands a clear and immediate response regarding the request for the Extraordinary Congress and calls for:

1. Immediate clarity on the request for the Extraordinary Regional Congress.
2. The availability of the minutes from the Jurisdiction Council's meeting.
3. Strict adherence to the internal regulations' deadlines, ensuring respect for the party's democratic processes.

In accordance with the PSD Madeira Statutes, particularly articles 17, 22, and 26, and considering the request made on December 23, 2024, accompanied by over 300 signatures, Correia formally requests:

• A clear and immediate response to the call for the Extraordinary Congress.
• The minutes of the Jurisdiction Council meeting, detailing participants, discussed matters, decisions made, and voting outcomes.
• Strict compliance with the internal regulations to safeguard internal democracy within PSD Madeira.
