Brisa Increases Tolls on 52 Highways
The Portuguese highway operator Brisa announced a significant increase in toll prices for 52 national highways, effective from January 1, 2025. The toll for the journey from Lisbon to Porto via the A1 will rise by 70 cents, while a trip on the A5 from Lisbon to Oeiras will now cost an additional 5 cents, totaling 40 cents.

Brisa stated that in 2025, tolls will see an update of 2.21% based on the inflation rate from October. This increase is part of the contractual agreements and reflects the applicable legislation.
Interestingly, 44% of Class 1 tolls will remain unchanged from 2024. Brisa highlighted that while some tolls will rise above the average due to previous years' lack of updates, others will see minimal or no changes.
This adjustment is part of a broader strategy to manage highway costs and keep up with inflation, impacting drivers across the country.
