Eco Wave Power's Ambitious Wave Energy Project in Porto
Eco Wave Power Global AB, a leader in onshore wave energy technology, has partnered with MOQ Engineering to finalize the design and load calculations for a pioneering wave energy project in Porto, Portugal. This innovative initiative is set to launch in 2026 as part of a 20MW Concession Agreement with Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo, S.A. (APDL).
The Porto project will utilize Eco Wave Power’s cutting-edge wave energy technology and will feature an underwater wave energy museum and an education center called “The Gallery,” located beneath the breakwater where energy conversion equipment will be installed. This project is pivotal in supporting Portugal’s goal to generate 85% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
Once MOQ Engineering completes the design, Eco Wave Power will submit the finalized project to APDL for approval, allowing the production of floaters and structural components to commence.
This project aims to showcase large-scale wave energy production, significantly reducing the port’s carbon footprint, creating jobs, and advancing Portugal’s renewable energy sector.
Eco Wave Power is also expanding its global footprint with projects in Taiwan, the Port of Los Angeles, and beyond, further establishing its presence in the renewable energy market.
Inna Braverman, CEO of Eco Wave Power, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with MOQ Engineering marks significant progress in our Portuguese project. Their engineering expertise ensures we meet the highest safety and operational standards.”
Manuel Cardoso, Partner at MOQ Engineering, emphasized the project's potential, saying, “We are honored to partner with Eco Wave Power on this innovative wave energy project. This showcases the viability of wave energy as a sustainable power source.”
