The Public Security Police (PSP) is conducting searches this morning in Lisbon, Loures, Sintra, Amadora, and Odemira, as part of an investigation into assaults that took place on Rua do Benformoso in the capital, the security force announced.
In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP revealed that both residential and non-residential searches are being carried out in the municipalities of Lisbon (Rua do Benformoso), Loures, Sintra, Amadora, and Odemira (Beja). These operations are part of a probe into crimes involving the possession of prohibited weapons and offenses against physical integrity.
"The objective is to recover and seize the weapons used in the commission of the crime, as well as any other undefined instruments that could be used as weapons of aggression," the PSP stated in a release, without providing details or the date of the assaults.
The operation also aims at "removing illicit weapons from public spaces, thereby promoting a safer and more peaceful environment for all residents and users of the urban area."
