PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island's rich Portuguese culture can now be showcased on the road with the introduction of special 'Day of Portugal' license plates. These plates are not just a symbol of heritage but also a means to support Portuguese culture, language, and history in the state.
The Rhode Island Day of Portugal organization has unveiled these charity plates, available for preorder. Celebrated on June 10, the Day of Portugal honors the death of poet Luís de Camões, Portugal's greatest national icon, known for his epic poem Os Lusíadas, which celebrates Portugal's golden age of maritime exploration.
