Dave, 82, Passionate About Trams: Another Victim of the Gloria Elevator Identified

Police in Wales have confirmed the identity of another victim from the Gloria Elevator disaster: Andrew David Kenneth Young, an 82-year-old resident of Holyhead in Northwest Wales. Known affectionately as "Dave," he is the third British citizen among the fatal victims of the September 3 accident on Calçada da Glória in Lisbon.

It has been revealed that Dave was a lifelong transport enthusiast, with a particular passion for railways and trams. His family shared in a statement, quoted by North Wales Police, that he enjoyed visiting historic railways and tramways worldwide during his retirement. They expressed comfort in knowing his final moments were spent doing something that brought him immense joy.

Born in the early 1940s in Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland, Dave moved to Holyhead in 1980, where he had a long career as a customs officer. The other two British victims have been identified as a couple from Manchester: Kayleigh Smith, 36, and William Nelson, 44, both theater workers on vacation in Lisbon.

Out of the 16 recorded fatalities, the identities of four foreigners remain unknown: a 52-year-old Swiss woman, two 40-year-old South Korean citizens, and a 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen.
