The coalition list for the Lisbon City Council, comprising PS, Livre, PAN, and BE, for the upcoming local elections on October 12th, has been finalized. The lineup reflects a strategic distribution of positions among the coalition partners, with the PS taking the lead in the first four spots, followed by Livre with two, and PAN and BE with one each.
Key figures in the coalition include:
- Alexandra Leitão as the head of the list.
- Sérgio Cintra, a seasoned figure in Lisbon's municipal affairs, positioned as the likely vice-president if the coalition wins.
- Carla Madeira and Pedro Anastácio, both with significant local governance experience, rounding out the top four.
The coalition also features representatives from its partners: Carlos Teixeira (Livre), Carolina Serrão (BE), Patrícia Robalo (Livre), and António Morgado (PAN). Notably, Maria Begonha, a former MP who lost her seat in the recent legislative elections, is placed 10th on the list.
For the Lisbon Municipal Assembly (AML), the coalition has nominated André Moz Caldas to lead the list, with Miguel Coelho, the outgoing president of Santa Maria Maior's parish council, in second place. The AML list also includes prominent names like Hugo Gaspar, a former councilor under Fernando Medina, and Nuno Saraiva, a commentator and advisor.
This coalition represents a united front of left-wing parties (excluding PCP) aiming to reclaim Lisbon's governance, showcasing a mix of experienced local politicians and fresh faces from the coalition partners.
