CTT Employee in Hot Water
A 52-year-old employee of the CTT (Correios de Portugal) in Cabo Ruivo, Lisbon, has been arrested for allegedly stealing money intended for charitable causes. The arrest occurred on Wednesday, with the police catching him in the act.
How the Theft Happened
According to a statement from the PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública), the suspect had prior knowledge of the contents of the letters. He would open correspondence directed to specific charitable causes and remove the cash inside. This illicit activity took place at the CTT’s Production and Logistics Center in Cabo Ruivo.
Police Actions
Following the arrest, authorities confiscated cash and numerous opened letters. The man faces serious charges, including violating correspondence, qualified theft, and embezzlement. He has already undergone his first judicial interrogation, during which he was suspended from his duties and is now subject to bi-weekly reporting to the police.
