In the easternmost part of the Algarve coast, near the Spanish border, lies a beach that captures the essence of Portuguese holidays from the 80s and 90s. This area, between Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, is free from large tourist developments, preserving its authentic charm.

Praia da Terra Estreita, located on Tavira Island, is a perfect example of this untouched beauty. Part of the Ria Formosa barrier islands, its name comes from the narrowest strip of sand on the island. Despite its name, the beach offers a vast expanse of fine, white sand, ensuring plenty of space for everyone, even in peak summer.

The landscape is dominated by pristine nature, with protected dunes housing unique flora and fauna typical of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The clear blue and green waters maintain average temperatures of 22°C until October, reaching up to 24°C or 25°C on the hottest summer days.

Access to this serene beach is an adventure in itself, requiring a boat trip from Santa Luzia village, known as the octopus capital. The journey offers stunning views and a glimpse into the traditional fishing village life.

Despite its secluded feel, Praia da Terra Estreita is equipped with basic amenities, including a snack bar, restrooms, and a first-aid post. It's a safe haven for families, with constant surveillance and activities like stand-up paddleboarding available.

This slice of paradise in the Algarve is a reminder of simpler times, offering a genuine and serene beach experience away from the crowds.
