The Socialist Party (PS) is set to unveil its new strategic council, a body designed to advise the Secretary-General, with a lineup that includes some unexpected names. Among them is Filipe Lobo d’Ávila, a former vice-president of the CDS party and secretary of the Internal Administration under the Passos Coelho and Paulo Portas government. Lobo d’Ávila ended his 30-year affiliation with CDS in April 2024, citing incompatibility with the party's direction under Nuno Melo's leadership.
Also joining the council are Paulo Pedroso, a former PS leader who left the party, and Pedro Siza Vieira, adding a diverse range of political perspectives to the PS's advisory team. The council's inauguration is scheduled for Tuesday at the PS headquarters in Lisbon's Largo do Rato.
