Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested in Machico
The Regional Command of the PSP in Madeira has announced the detention of a 35-year-old man, a native and resident of Machico, suspected of committing a crime of domestic violence.
Details of the Arrest
The arrest took place at 19:28 on Tuesday following the issuance and delivery of non-flagrante delicto arrest warrants by the DIAP - MP (Public Prosecutor's Office) to the PSP at around 18:00 today. The suspect was intercepted shortly thereafter.
The detained individual is currently held in the PSP detention quarters, awaiting judicial interrogation, which must occur within a maximum of 48 hours.
Background and Victim Protection
As previously reported, both the victim's and the aggressor's addresses have been referenced by the PSP. Fábio Castro, a subintendant of the PSP, revealed that the suspect himself was at the Machico police station this morning, allegedly to file a criminal complaint, but ultimately left without doing so.
Regarding the victim, although not under constant police escort, the PSP has provided necessary protective measures and direct contacts with the officers in charge of the investigation. This ensures support for clarifying doubts, process procedures, and any required actions.
