A minor earthquake was felt in the Almeirim municipality on the afternoon of Saturday, June 14, specifically in Paço dos Negros, Marianos, and Fazendas de Almeirim.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the earthquake, which occurred at 14:04, had a magnitude of 2.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located approximately 12 km east-southeast of Almeirim. The IPMA reported that the quake was felt with a maximum intensity of II on the modified Mercalli scale in the Almeirim area, with no reports of personal or material damage.
Residents in the affected areas shared their experiences with local media, describing how they felt the ground shake, especially while inside their homes.
This event follows another minor earthquake in the same region on June 12, which had a magnitude of 1.7 on the Richter scale.
